DFW International Airport

Department of Public Safety Headquarters

JE Dunn completed this high-security, two-story 130,000 SF public safety HQ built for DFW. Structure supports multiple DPS department user groups, including Police, Fire, Special Services, FBI, and Criminal Investigation. State-of-the-art functional areas include training rooms, office space, locker rooms, fitness facility, records storage, crime scene lab, weapons storage, and cafeteria. There is an apparatus garage for SWAT and specialty vehicles.

The 6,500 SF secure detention area includes 12 holding rooms, separate male/female areas, juvenile holding, intake rooms, and two isolation cells. The detention facility meets all TCJS requirements and is served by a full-service dual entrance secured Sally Port.

The team coordinated with over 90 stakeholders to balance each department’s needs in the program while maintaining the original budget. The collaborative process allowed delivery of guaranteed contract GMP only ten weeks after NTP.
