In 2020, CEO Gordon Lansford took the CEO Action Pledge to build productive, diverse, and inclusive workplaces. The CEO Action Pledge is the largest business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Nearly 2,000 CEOs across 85 industries have taken the pledge. We are proud to have joined the coalition. We recognize that our commitment under the pledge is not the complete answer, but we believe it is an important step toward building more diverse and inclusive workplaces.
Building a diverse and inclusive workforce means more than simply recruiting top talent โ it means mentoring a new generation of builders while fostering a culture of innovation and creative thinking.
Geared toward construction and engineering students, JE Dunnโs National Diversity Scholarship supports our three-pillar strategy for diversity and inclusion: workforce, workplace, and marketplace.
It is a $5,000 scholarship paid over the course of two years and includes up to two guaranteed internship opportunities. It is awarded to 11 students nationally each year.
When it comes to providing long-standing opportunities for diversity and inclusion, JE Dunn understands its role in helping minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBE) grow and succeed in the construction industry. Thatโs why we created a formal education program for potential subcontractors that emphasizes minority and women-owned companies.
The program, which lasts eight months, is free of charge to all admitted contractors. Each applicant is selected through an application and interview process. Not only is the program intended to prepare small businesses for success in the construction industry, but one vital purpose is to provide them with the chance to work with JE Dunn.
The MCD programโs curriculum is structured in monthly sessions held at a JE Dunn location, with courses covering topics such as mock bid, project leadership, estimating, policies and procedures, and more. Companies that complete the program are added to JE Dunnโs database of approved contractors, which the operations team can invite to bid on projects.
JE Dunnโs success relies on strong trade partners. SMS, JE Dunnโs Prequalification System, helps us to better identify and track the skills, services, and capabilities of each of our business partners. This process also benefits you, as our partner, since it ensures the evaluation procedure is performed more consistently. All trade partners doing business with JE Dunn are required to prequalify using SMS. After registering, it is essential you return and update your information at least once per year to maintain an active status.
