The University of Minnesota's new Health Sciences Education Center (HSEC) was designed to transform health education in Minnesota by moving from the lecture hall to active, team-based learning in the same type of small-group environments that students will encounter as practicing healthcare professionals. HSEC creates a hub for all the health professional schools by renovating and constructing over 200,000 SF of state-of-the-art classrooms, study spaces, enhanced simulation and immersive training environments, the Center for Health Interprofessional Programs, and libraries that offer everything from rare manuscript collections to augmented reality and makerspaces.
