Texas Facilities Commission’s (TFC) Capitol Complex Master Plan re-imagines the district as a destination celebrating the Capitol and centralizes more than 90 state agencies. Phase I of this master plan includes two new office buildings and five levels of underground parking, which will be the base of a new, pedestrian-oriented promenade. The master plan was divided into six packages and JE Dunn completed Packages 1, 2, and 3.
Package 1 included a 60-foot excavation spanning 12 city blocks to support the two new office buildings and underground parking structure. It was one of the largest excavations in the state of Texas.
Package 2 relocated all utilities that crossed into those excavated areas and installed new utilities to service existing/future buildings. This was the largest utility improvement project to date in downtown Austin.
Package 3 was the construction of a new 19,000 SF central utility plant (CUP) and the expansion of an existing CUP.
