This project consolidated Creighton University School of Medicine & Hospital and CHI Health Bergan Mercy Medical Center into a single Academic Health System. A total of 390,000 SF (renovation and new building) had to be renovated over the course of two years—without reducing the patient census or adversely affecting the quality of care delivered. JE Dunn devised a seven-phase process and split into four contractor teams to complete the renovation and new construction projects on schedule. Supporting projects include renovations to several MOBs, a Rapid Response Lab and major upgrades to the MEP infrastructure, renovations to ICU and NICU within the existing hospital tower and phased renovations of ER/Trauma, Surgery, Cardiology, Central Sterile and the Cafeteria. Inventive workarounds were created to mitigate the impact of construction - dust, vibration, leaks, and other factors - on infection control and the patient experience.
