Nashville, TN. February 16, 2024 – JE Dunn Construction is celebrating its 100th anniversary in its 26 offices nationwide throughout 2024, including 30 years of business in Middle Tennessee. In celebration of the anniversary, JE Dunn surprised the nonprofit Our Kids with a $100,000 donation to further its vital work of providing aid to children and families affected by sexual abuse. The donation is part of a national centennial initiative, Building a Legacy: A Century of Generosity Campaign, and is the first of ten donations to be awarded this year.
“It’s our goal to celebrate the centennial and the incredible impact JE Dunn has had on the communities where we live and work,” JE Dunn Community Impact Director Nancy Phelps said. “It’s an incredible honor to recognize Our Kids and help them further their mission.”
Phelps was joined by Sean Buck, senior vice president at JE Dunn Nashville, and other company executives at a surprise ceremony today during which Our Kids was presented with the donation. Since 2014, JE Dunn Nashville has worked alongside Our Kids to create awareness in Middle Tennessee about children who suffer from sexual abuse and need help. In the nine years of working together, JE Dunn has hosted an annual Hammer Down race, a 5K race through the streets of Nashville, to raise money for the organization. With today’s surprise donation, JE Dunn has now donated more than $1 million to Our Kids.
“In Nashville, and across the country, JE Dunn prioritizes building lasting relationships, growing support systems, and giving back to help meet the needs within our communities,” said Sean Buck. “Our work with Our Kids underscores JE Dunn’s commitment to Middle Tennessee and the gratitude we have to everyone who has worked with us to ensure our communities can thrive. Construction impacts everyone in a community. Thank you to the Nashville team, our clients and the community for playing an integral role in the success of JE Dunn over the last century.”
JE Dunn is nationally recognized for giving back through the company’s Community Impact team, with an average of 50,000 volunteer hours donated by employees annually. Thanks to its employee match program, community ambassador network, and philanthropic leadership within each of its offices, the company contributed to more than 1,000 nonprofits in 2023 and donates 10% of its pre-tax net income to charities each year.
The Building a Legacy: A Century of Generosity campaign will continue to honor nonprofit organizations across the country, extending JE Dunn’s community impact, and celebrating the employees and communities that have been foundational to the company’s success and longevity. Nine other worthy organizations in the U.S. will be selected by employees to receive a gift of $100,000 to empower their work in the communities where JE Dunn employees live, work, and build, for a total impact of $1 million nationwide.
