JE Dunn+McFarland Joint Venture is excited to be well underway on this long-awaited project. The City of Charlotte selected JE Dunn+McFarland as the Construction Manager at Risk in 2019 to build a new concourse for the airport. Preconstruction was at 70% when the city suspended the project indefinitely in May 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
In July 2021 the city released the project’s suspension, and due to changes to project funding by utilizing federal support for the project, the city renegotiated the agreement. As a result, JE Dunn+McFarland re-engaged preconstruction activities in the Fall of 2021. JE Dunn+McFarland completed preconstruction and finalized a GMP in February 2022.
Even with the continuing supply chain issues and rapid cost escalations in the market, JE Dunn+McFarland utilized data from the design partners’ Revit model to produce accurate budget projections with our proprietary Lens Suite. The result is a well-informed owner with a final GMP that still matches the projected budget.
We plan to deliver to the owner a new ten gate concourse attached to the existing secured terminal and concourse complex with a 900 foot enclosed two-level connector in July 2024. The scope also includes tying into a Central Energy Plant and adding additional inbound and out bound baggage handling conveyors.
