The AUS Consolidated Maintenance Facility is the headquarters for airline, building and field maintenance and public safety. What had been isolated departments working in outdated facilities has now transformed into a 16-acre, 16-building facility that provides all the necessary workstations, warehouses, and coverage for materials to equip the AUS staff to serve the expansion of the airport and the growing demand of air travel.
The approach to the campus was to get beyond thinking of this project as a warehouse or storage facility and instead identify its purpose: increase productivity in daily maintenance operations and camaraderie to create a place that promotes pride in AUS work.
Amenities include breakrooms in each building across the sixteen-acre campus. A large breakroom in the HQ building has a full kitchen accessible to all and features a shared space with a pool table and seating. The gym and locker rooms, with individual shower rooms, are available to all staff. Ten individual sleeping rooms are designed to allow emergency staff to rest while they remain on airport property during weather events or crises.
Providing outdoor spaces for year-round utilization was a central part of the campus. The main courtyard has covered and exposed seating with eating areas that include native plant landscaping. A pavilion on the south side of the campus can be enjoyed for outdoor breaks and team gatherings.
