Austin City Council approved JE Dunn/Turner, A Joint Venture as the construction manager at risk for the redevelopment and expansion of the Austin Convention Center (ACC).
The design team selected is also a joint venture between LMN Architects and Page Southerland Page (LMN/Page).
As shared by the City of Austin in their press release, Trisha Tatro, Director of the Austin Convention Center Department (ACCD), was quoted saying,
“The selected firms bring unparalleled expertise in their respective fields and have a demonstrated ability to provide innovative thinking toward design and construction techniques. This effort aligns perfectly with our goal of constructing a culturally iconic, state-of-the-art convention center in Austin.”
Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and reopen by the end of 2028. Funding for the project is provided by municipal Hotel Occupancy Tax and Austin Convention revenues.
“The JE Dunn/Turner team is purpose-built for the Austin Convention Center Redevelopment. Our unrivaled experience, collaboration and passion for building makes us the right team to reposition Austin as ‘The Convention Destination’ for decades to come,” said Greg Euston, Project Executive.
The project team consists of other key partners such as Haynes-Eaglin-Waters, LLC, for minority and diverse firm procurement and outreach, Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems for LEED consultation, and engineering firm, Jacobs.
“At the helm of this construction will be transparency, collaboration, and safety”, said Euston. “Austin is home to our employees and their families, and we have the same interest and desire to see this project be delivered successfully. A project like this will be challenging and have a big impact during construction, but we know how to navigate the complexities and we’re honored to do this right for Austin,” he said.
