The Austin Convention Center is set for demolition to make way for a new, larger facility, which will be built over the next four years.
Designed by LMN Architects and Page Architects, alongside general contractors JE Dunn Construction and Turner Construction Company, the $1.6 billion redevelopment is intended to better integrate the new center into the surrounding downtown and present a more inviting space.
Features include 620,000 square feet of rentable space – 70 percent more than the current center – and emphasize openness, natural light, public art and pedestrian-friendly pathways. The project aims to make Austin more competitive for larger conventions and is expected to open in time for the 2029 spring festival season.
