The General Service Facility consolidates resources for the Houston Airports under one roof and provides multiple airport entities the security and space needed to keep operations running smoothly.
The pre-engineered building is shared by three City of Houston entities: Vehicle Maintenance (VMF), Airside Operations (OPS) and the Integrated Control Center (ICC).
JE Dunn and Martinez Architects were the design-build team and used existing pre-engineered structural material to redesign the new facility which includes warehouse and office space, loading docks, a covered exterior work area and mechanical yard. A main feature of the project includes massive bay doors to load in the airport’s largest fleet vehicles for service.
Thanks to the intentional safety planning and training, GSF was constructed with zero recordables, zero incidents, and zero first-aids.
