The new 31,790 SF expansion and renovation of St. Joseph’s Emergency Department includes 17,770 SF of expansion and 14,020 SF of renovation. The first phase expanded space in the Outpatient Lobby which opened January 2017. The second phase which includes the Emergency Department renovation opened June 2017. This project features grand lobbies, a reflection pool, and doubles the Emergency Department capacity.
This project utilized JE Dunn’s collaborative project delivery (CPD) method, which resulted in a reduced schedule from 23 months to 17 months and 6% in overall cost savings before construction. Construction began per the scheduled start date in February of 2016, six months after the first CPD meeting. The GMP was finalized with four and a half months of critical path work in place with the use of early release trade packages. The project was completed nearly two months ahead of the scheduled 17-month duration. Nearly all of the construction contingency and allowances were returned as savings.
