JE Dunn was the construction manager for SMSD's 2015 bond program. Throughout this program, we led the development of six new elementary schools ranging in size from 60,000 to 75,000 SF. These elementary schools feed into all five high schools in the District. JE Dunn also completed an elementary school remodel and an 18,000 SF renovation to the existing Shawnee Mission South High School’s football stadium.
Separate from the bond, JE Dunn completed the new 131,000 SF Shawnee Mission School District Center for Academic Achievement (CAA), a two-story mixed-use building that combines three existing administrative centers into a single location to create operational efficiencies. It houses the culinary arts program and bistro, a TV studio, information technology and open offices. The building features flexible spaces to facilitate learning, creativity, and collaboration, laboratories, a student union area, and collaborative spaces for signature programs.
