Women in Construction: Leading the Way Together

The construction industry has long been known as a male-dominated field, but in recent years, the number of women joining the workforce has been steadily increasing. Women now make up 14% of the U.S. construction workforce.

In the last 13 years I have been with JE Dunn, I have seen firsthand how the inclusion of women across our field teams, project leadership, and enablement teams has helped our company thrive and reinforce our Best People + Right Culture. Our female employees bring important and diverse perspectives and talents to JE Dunn. We are stronger, more innovative, and better positioned for success when we work together with people who bring a variety of experiences to the table.

As our industry continues to face challenges in developing both our current and future workforce, increasing the representation of women in construction presents a powerful solution. I am immensely proud of our internal efforts to address this issue. Through initiatives such as our Building the Future (K-12) program, comprehensive campus recruitment efforts, national diversity scholarship program, diverse mentorship programs, Minority Contractor Development programs, and the Moment Connection Employee Resource Group, we aim to support women in their construction careers. Additionally, we seek to inspire future generations to consider construction as a viable and rewarding career path for all.

I am proud of the efforts made by the women of JE Dunn, along with all our colleagues, to help make our company and our industry stronger.

Together, we will continue using the right people and right tools to build authentic programs and partnerships supporting and celebrating women in our company and industry.
