JE Dunn Construction Completes New Mental Wellness Campus in Kansas City Metro

Children’s Mercy and KVC Health Systems subsidiary Camber Mental Health opened a new state-of-the-art facility estimated to treat 3,400 people a year.

Children’s Mercy + Camber Mental Health held a ribbon-cutting on Nov. 20 celebrating JE Dunn’s completion of a new inpatient behavioral health hospital, expanding healthcare offerings in Olathe. The new 72,700 SF facility is now open to patients and is dedicated to providing short-term mental health treatment services for youth and adults in Kansas City.

“The opening of this new facility marks a huge leap forward in mental health care for both adolescents and adults in the Kansas City area and beyond,” JE Dunn Vice President Mike Comer said. “It’s rewarding to see the culmination of everyone’s hard work, knowing it will make such a difference for so many people.”

The new inpatient mental health hospital features 48 youth beds and 24 adult beds in fully separate units, vastly increasing mental health care accessibility and treating an estimated 3,400 people a year. In addition to its treatment rooms, the campus offers six private courtyards, walking paths, and space for dining and activities.

“Most importantly, what we are going to do is address and help create the world of well-being that we aspire to create and ease some of that burden and some of the complications that these kids and the families that support them are dealing with. That is what is truly aspirational and inspirational about the space,” President and CEO of Children’s Mercy Kansas City Paul Kempinski said.

The Children’s Mercy + Camber Mental Health Mental Wellness Campus is located in south Olathe and focuses on delivering treatment through compassionate, trauma-focused behavioral healthcare services.
