JE Dunn Construction won third place for the 2025 Best Places to Work awards among extra-large companies. This was the eighth year JE Dunn has been recognized in the category, and the sixth year in a row being recognized as one of the category’s top 3 honorees.
This year, JE Dunn’s application focused on the employee-owned company’s culture and many ways it aims to support its most valuable asset — its people. The general contractor cited its 20-year anniversary of providing a comprehensive well-being program to employees, its robust Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and recent renovation of its downtown headquarters with a full redesign of workspaces that embrace the latest technology and the addition of work lounges that reflect JE Dunn’s culture of collaboration.
“The best workplaces don’t just make people productive. They make them feel valued, supported, and empowered.” said Jeff Blaesing, JE Dunn’s Kansas City Office Director. “We take pride in the work we do and the clients we serve, but what truly sets us apart is how deeply we care for our people and the communities around us.”
Roughly 2,000 local employees serve the wider community by building authentic partnerships and inspiring, innovative projects. In the last 10 years alone, JE Dunn teams have completed more than 700 projects in the area. Next to its employees, JE Dunn further emphasized the value of giving back to the community, highlighting a new Cornerstone Campaign wherein JE Dunn will donate $1.5 million to organizations that support an employee-chosen initiative in addition to other annual giving. For 2025, employees voted to support charities that create access to safe and supportive spaces for children in need.
The Kansas City Business Journal ranks applicants for the Best Places to Work Awards to recognize local employers that have gone above and beyond to create an outstanding workplace culture. The rankings are based on confidential surveys of employees that measure success in team dynamics, trust in leadership, communication and more, with only the top-scoring companies in the region earning the coveted right to be named one of the Best Places to Work. The top three applicants in all five categories were recognized at the ceremony and are included in a list of 2025 honorees online.
