JE Dunn tops out $425M Tennessee manufacturing plant

The 900,000-square-foot project will produce disposable tableware products for Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific’s Dixie brand.

Spread across 241 acres in Jackson, Tennessee, 390,000 yards of dirt were moved, 52,000 cubic yards of concrete were poured, and 58,000 feet of conduit were laid for this 900,000-square-foot project recorded to be the largest single investment in the city’s history with a price tag of $425 million.

The above are a few statistics associated with the newest manufacturing plant for Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific’s Dixie brand, which saw the topping-out of its final structural beam by general contractor JE Dunn Construction on August 30, 2023.

The facility was built to produce disposable tableware products such as plates and bowls. Within Jackson, a regional center of trade for western Tennessee, the facility sits roughly 70 miles east of Memphis. Fully air-conditioned, it features printer equipment, advanced automation technology and connected control systems. The plant will be fully operational in summer 2024.

“The new facility is one of the most advanced facilities JE Dunn has ever built,” says Erik Magsamen, JE Dunn vice president and project executive. “Throughout the new facility, you will find modern technologies that are all connected and work harmoniously with one another.”
