Verona, Missouri is a small town easy to miss if you’re driving through the southwest portion of the Show-Me state. Located between Joplin and Springfield along Highway 60, life in Verona was pretty quiet until news of a big boost for the town’s economy.
Kemin Industries, a global ingredient supplier for several industries including human/animal health and nutrition, pet food, agricultural, food/crop technologies and more, has announced a $70 million expansion of its Verona facility which will add 30 jobs and expand the plant by 38,000 square feet. JE Dunn Construction will lead the plant’s expansion as the general contractor of choice.
Verona’s mayor, Amy Spears, highlighted the importance of such investments for the community’s growth, expressing gratitude for the positive impact on the town, home to 826 residents as of the 2020 Census and a number which will only grow as Kemin Industries expands its local presence.
Chris Nelson, president of Kemin Industries, emphasized the expansion’s benefits for both the company and Verona, noting the company’s long-standing presence in the area and commitment to safety in manufacturing processes.
“Safety for not only the products that we are manufacturing,” Nelson said. “Safety for all the raw ingredients we bring in, all of those are paramount.”
