The 5,685 square foot, $5.1 million makeover of historic Ford Auditorium at Berry College in Northwest Georgia is a delight for artists and audiences alike.
The renovation of Ford Auditorium represented JE Dunn’s eighth project on the Berry Campus, furthering a relationship that extends over more than 15 years. As an indispensable business partner to Berry College, the JE Dunn team made every effort to ensure the project exceeded the vision and honored the original 1928 space.
For example, the design called for all trim below the ceiling to match the existing wood on the balcony. When JE Dunn realized that the wood from the balcony was no longer available, the team worked closely with the painting trade partner to create a two-coat “Ford Balcony Stain Match,” a custom color, to ensure everything matched perfectly.
Our dedication to client service did not end there. The project’s application of Lean construction — with its emphasis on maximizing value and minimizing waste — was key. Lean construction principles ensured we clearly communicated the project vision, embraced proactive problems solving, and applied timely decision making. We functioned at high efficiency and accomplished something quite extraordinary.
