General Services Administration and Food and Drug Administration Laboratory

Project Highlights

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and U.S. Health and Human Services, Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s new, premier food lab will provide a modern, improved workspace for the FDA to enhance its critical research capabilities.

Serving as a hub for the FDA, the new cutting-edge facility will feature 16,500 square-feet of new lab space for microbiology and 14,000 square-feet for chemistry, expanding the FDA’s research capability to manage foodborne illness outbreaks and ensure product safety for food, drugs and cosmetics. Once completed, this lab will be the FDA’s only established Biosafety Level-3 facility west of the Mississippi River.
