MSP Delta Gates Terminal 1 Modernization Program

Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport

Project Highlights

MSP’s Airport Modernization Program (AMP) was the most significant interior refresh of Terminal 1’s concourses since the terminal opened in 1962. Spanning six concourses, the project transformed heavily traveled spaces with brighter lighting, modern finishes, updated technology, and a more cohesive, welcoming design that enhanced both comfort and efficiency for travelers. The program delivered extensive improvements to 75 Delta Airlines gates. Travelers are now benefiting from new seating with built in power, redesigned gate podiums, upgraded carpeting, modernized information screens, and refreshed Delta branding aligned with the airline’s standards at other major hubs. Construction occurred in phases to keep Terminal 1 fully operational with most construction taking place overnight. The completed project brings a more intuitive, comfortable, and efficient Terminal 1 experience—delivering a refreshed environment designed to meet the needs of today’s travelers and support the airport’s future growth.
