Confidential Data Center Substation

Project Highlights

Temporary substation for the first build of a hyper scale data center campus. Coordinated disassembly and transportation from original location in Maysville, GA to new location in the Kansas City Metro. Coordinated with local utility to tap existing transmission lines running through site. Substation will be used to provide construction and commissioning power as well as initial data center operation power until the permanent substation can be built.

Additionally, JE Dunn is currently building the initial and second permanent substation for this campus.
The initial substation includes coordination with utility for buildout of onsite switchyard serving substation and relocation of existing transmission lines running through site. Worked with design team and client to help coordinate easements and utility installation. Two 161kV circuits feeding group operated air break (GOAB) switch mounted on A-frame flying tap structures. 2000A 161kV high voltage circuit breakers feeding owner furnished 143MVA, 161/13.8kV Virginia Transformer Company transformers. Overhead distribution to (12) individually mounted 3000A, 15kV medium voltage circuit breakers connected to an outdoor control enclosure with SEL Relays.

The second build also includes two 161kV circuits feeding group operated air break (GOAB) switch mounted on A-frame dead-end structures. 2000A 161kV high voltage circuit breakers feeding owner furnished 143MVA, 161/13.8kV Elsewedy transformers. Overhead distribution to (12) individually mounted 3000A, 15kV medium voltage circuit breakers connected to an outdoor control enclosure with SEL Relays.
