A new mural dawns at the edge of the Kansas City Crossroads district and tells a 100-year-old story of how iconic structures in Kansas City have been created thanks to JE Dunn Construction. The commissioned mural is located at 1616 Broadway Boulevard on the north side of the Quixotic building and was painted by well-known mural artist, Ben Watson, and his partner, Mike Judd with Evolution Sign & Mural.
The mural was created to honor JE Dunn’s heritage in Kansas City by offering a creative interpretation of the company, as well as something its employees and the Kansas City community can experience. It will be available for viewing throughout the year.
“This mural has provided us a great opportunity to celebrate our Centennial and also give back to the great community of Kansas City that has provided so much support to JE Dunn over the past 100 years,” said Jeff Blaesing, Kansas City Office Leader.

“It was important for me to interpret the vision of how JE Dunn’s work has helped create the greater Kansas City area,” said Ben Watson, mural artist, and co-owner of Evolution Sign & Mural. “Construction often involves heavy equipment, and we wanted to tell a different story of how the construction transformed into art itself.”
The mural is just one of many planned local and national celebrations as part of JE Dunn’s 100th anniversary that include employee and client events, a commemorative logo for construction site signage and employee gear, and a digital media campaign featuring 100 stories that showcase the company’s history and legacy.
