JE Dunn Construction officially presented a $40,000 check to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in a ceremony before the Kansas City Royals’ home game against the Minnesota Twins.
The money is generated through JE Dunn and the Royals’ “Celebrate the Run” campaign, where for every run scored at home during the 2024 season, JE Dunn has pledged and will continue to donate $100 to the NLBM. JE Dunn leadership presented the campaign donations to NLBM President Bob Kendrick and NLBM Community Engagement and Digital Strategy Manager Kiona Sinks before the game to help mark 100 years since the construction firm was founded and the Kansas City Monarchs won the inaugural Negro Leagues World Series in 1924.
“It’s an honor to celebrate our Centennial year with the Royals and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum,” JE Dunn President and CEO Gordon Lansford said. “’Celebrate the Run’ has been an exciting way for JE Dunn to thank and support these important organizations building community and shaping history with us in Kansas City.”
During the ceremony, Lansford was joined by Chairman and Chief Investment Officer Tim Dunn, Senior Vice President Jeff Blaesing, and Vice President and Community Impact Director Nancy Phelps.
Shortly after, Dunn opened the Sept. 6 game by throwing the first pitch to Lansford. JE Dunn employees in attendance also wore commemorative KC Royals City Connect jerseys sporting the number 24 in celebration of the construction firm’s 100-year legacy of community giving in Kansas City and nationwide.
