JE Dunn Helps KC Current Honor Title IX in CPKC Stadium

Reflecting to December 6 of 2020, Chris and Angie Long founded what is now the Kansas City Current, gives us pause to think about the recent journey with this team, the stadium, and equality in sports as a whole.

Strategically placed in the hallway of CPKC stadium, where players pass as they take the field, is the language of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. This not only serves as a powerful reminder of the historical significance and ongoing impact of this legislation but reaffirms KC Currents commitment to upholding the values of and fairness in sports and continuing to champion equality in all aspects of the game.

Advancing women’s soccer and athletics on a global scale, CPKC Stadium is the world’s first purpose-built stadium for women’s professional sports, the result of a mission to provide a state-of-the-art facility offering the best player, fan, partner, and community experience in the world.

The facility spans seven acres with capacity of 11,500 with no seat being more than 100 feet from the field. Also included are luxury suites and in-stadium amenities, including pitch-side seats, a pitch club, supporter section, community plaza areas, local food and drink, and a cutting-edge pitch with heating and cooling capabilities.

Providing views of the riverfront and downtown, this first-of-its-kind open air venue not only caters to the needs of the sports fans, but also serves as a versatile space for concerts, events, and community gatherings.

Entering their fourth season with a 5-4 win at their home opener, KC Current played to a sold-out crowd on March 16, 2024, in their NEW CPKC stadium.

JE Dunn had the privilege of partnering with Monarch Build, for the construction of this project. To follow step with the mission of this project, our collective partnership provided a women lead project team from day one. Scott Sherry, National Director of Sports, This project has not only changed how we view women’s sports and its trajectory, it has also changed our approach to diversity engagement in our workplace, the future of our daughters in the world of sports and the broader workforce.” Courtney Kounkel, Owner – Monarch Build, “This has been such a collaborative partnership, a reminder if people work together moving toward the same goal, collectively, anything is possible.”

JE Dunn is a proud supporter of Title IX and everything it encompasses. As we set a precedence building the first-of-its-kind facility, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for equality in sports nation and worldwide.
