JE Dunn Construction Completes Colorado State University’s New Veterinary Hospital

October 29, 2026

FORT COLLINS, Colorado — This month, Colorado State University officially opened its new veterinary hospital, a 213,000-square-foot facility designed to advance veterinary education, expand clinical services, and help address the growing shortage of veterinary professionals nationwide.

Completed by JE Dunn Construction, the facility brings together clinical and academic environments to support hands-on learning, research, and patient care. New classrooms, laboratories, and collaborative learning spaces are paired with expanded emergency, urgent, and critical care, as well as dentistry, ophthalmology, and pharmacy services.

Designed with the wellbeing of both animals and people in mind, the facility incorporates abundant natural light, calming materials and colors, and sound-mitigating features inspired by fear-free veterinary practices. The project is pursuing LEED Gold and WELL Building Standard Certifications, which would make it the first veterinary hospital in the country to achieve WELL certification.

The facility also supports CSU’s new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum, which emphasizes hands-on learning and earlier clinical experiences. It will allow the university to expand its nationally ranked veterinary program, growing the next generation of veterinary professionals.

Students have already begun using the facility as part of the 2026 academic year, while additional clinical services continue transitioning into the facility in phases, with full operations expected by the end of the year.
