Charlotte, NC. July 16, 2024 – Beds for Kids is the proud recipient of a $100,000 grant from JE Dunn Construction. In honor of its Centennial celebration, JE Dunn is extending its community impact by choosing ten worthy organizations to receive a gift of $100,000 to further their important work. This community impact campaign, Building a Legacy: A Century of Generosity, will be empowering nonprofit organizations from across the country. Beds for Kids, whose mission is to provide beds and essential furniture to children and their families in need, received this grant on July 16, in a surprise ceremony.
Beds for Kids will use the money to purchase an additional 18’ box truck to aid in delivering high-quality beds and furniture to low-income households in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties with at least one child under 18. They are on pace to deliver to 1,250 families in 2024.
“This gift is transformational to the operations of Beds for Kids. We will be able to deliver to even more families and we’re so thankful for the continued partnership and support of JE Dunn,” Beds for Kids Executive Director Lauren Evans said.
JE Dunn employees nominated and voted on a variety of organizations across the country to select the final 10 recipients. Beginning in February, a new organization will be surprised each month, with 10 total awards delivered in 2024.
“Since day one, JE Dunn’s commitment to giving back has been ingrained in our culture and legacy, and we’re honored to celebrate our community partners during our Centennial,” JE Dunn Community Impact Director Nancy Phelps said. “Our Charlotte team has proudly partnered with Beds for Kids for many years through volunteer time, philanthropic support, and even our Employee Match Program, and we’re thrilled they were selected by our employees to receive a centennial grant as well!”
