University of Kansas Gateway District, Phase 2

Project Highlights

Phase 2 of The University of Kansas Gateway District will transform the north gateway to campus with a new mixed-use district anchored by David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. In December, the team began demolition of the stadium’s east grandstands, marking the start of this next phase.

The project includes a 650-space below-grade parking garage with an active public podium and plaza above, creating a new gathering space for fans, students, and visitors. The demolition and reconstruction of the east side of the stadium, along with the parking podium, are targeted for completion in time for the 2027 football season.
