Three new, full-service, Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSED) offer expanded access to hybrid provider-based emergency room and urgent care across the Phoenix metro. In partnership with Anchor Health Properties, HonorHealth, and Intuitive Health, the series of facilities provide dual emergency care/urgent care in Surprise, Peoria, and Paradise Valley, Arizona. Devenney Group served as the primary architect for all facilities in the FSED project series.
In Surprise, the HonorHealth Complete Care single-story FSED holds 10 exam rooms and one resuscitation room among 12,026-square-feet of combined ER and urgent care space. The 21,215-square-foot facility in Paradise Valley features a 12,000-square-foot freestanding emergency department/urgent care and attached medical offices, offering leading-edge, outpatient, and emergency care. The newest 12,172-square-foot, single-story facility in Peoria houses 13 patient exam rooms, among which are built to accommodate isolation and bariatric care. All three facilities feature full service x-ray and CT services, along with trauma care.
As the population continues to grow in the Phoenix Metro, these new facilities help address the rising demand for immediate medical care, enhancing response times, and reducing strain on centralized emergency departments. The new patient-centered model is designed to simplify the way patients access immediate, appropriate care while also lowering out-of-pocket costs. The key to these facilities is how they use one triage room to serve both emergency and urgent care services. In this scenario, the patient doesn’t have to make a decision of whether they need emergency care or urgent care, it’s done at the facility and billed accordingly.
