Williston Area Recreation Center

Project Highlights

The City of Williston, North Dakota, hired JE Dunn to build their new recreation center. The 267,000-square-foot facility includes a 50-meter, 8-lane swimming pool, four basketball courts, four indoor tennis courts, an indoor gymnasium with a 200-meter running track that can accommodate high jump and pole vaulting, two racquetball courts, a golf simulator, 54,000-square-foot fitness area, locker rooms, four meeting rooms, and new offices for the Williston Parks and Recreation Department.

The main entrance includes a fireplace and lounge area that overlooks the water park. The pool area features a “flow rider” wave simulator, a whirlpool, and a lazy river slide. A catering kitchen is nearby for cooking classes, and an outdoor patio features a grill for cookouts during the warm months.

Another area includes a 40- by 60-yard indoor turf fieldhouse. This space allows teams to participate in soccer, football, and other athletic activities during the winter. It houses two dedicated and four retractable batting cages.
