The new Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center sits on a 10.6-acre site across from Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers. Loews Arlington Hotel serves as an anchor hospitality destination within the Arlington Entertainment District, which is also home to the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to the 888 luxury guestrooms, the convention center includes over 123,000 SF of ballrooms, 62,000 SF of meeting spaces, resort-style amenities, including a resort pool, beach and splash pad, cabanas, spa, and fitness center. The project includes 23,157Â SF of commercial kitchen with the capability of servicing 10,000 guests. Loews Arlington Hotel is connected to a 7-level, 1,500-car parking garage that houses the primary loading docks for the convention center, also built by JE Dunn.
Facing logistical challenges with the initial precast concrete skin design for a 21-story hotel due to its weight, JE Dunn, with HKS and the prefabrication trade partner, identified a more efficient solution. Through a collaborative budgeting and value engineering process, the team recommended a prefabricated panel system alternative. The lighter prefabricated panels simplified erection on the main, east, and west facades, enhancing both the speed of installation and overall site safety. The successful implementation of the prefabricated panel system allowed the project to achieve its design goals and improve constructability.
JE Dunn established a strategic partnership with OSHA (Fort Worth & Dallas) in November 2021 at Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center project. This unique collaboration focused on non-enforcement safety verification and creating a model site for enhancing safety practices. Through regular OSHA site visits, training, and feedback, we actively improved safety performance. The project also served as a hands-on training ground for new OSHA compliance officers. This partnership underscores JE Dunn’s deep commitment to safety and positions the Loews Arlington project as a national benchmark for safety implementation on large, complex builds for JE Dunn.
The design intent for the lobby and convention center called for custom, high-level finishes that would establish a new standard of sophistication. Within the convention center, finishes were carefully chosen to meet demanding functional requirements without compromising on style. This involved implementing advanced acoustic paneling for superior sound dynamics and selecting high-performance flooring built for both elegance and durability. The striking custom lighting, including unique chandeliers where hundreds of crystals were meticulously hand-installed, along with integrated LED systems, was specifically designed to provide a versatile and captivating ambiance.
Bringing these intricate design elements to life required exceptional skilled craftsmanship. The process demanded continuous, close collaboration between designers, contractors, and suppliers. This significant effort, from hand-applied details to technological integration, was fundamental to delivering finishes that embody both exquisite quality and impressive grandeur, ultimately elevating the entire space and user experience.
