One Independence Center Renovation

Project Highlights

JE Dunn has completed significant renovations for the facelift of Uptown Charlotte’s One Independence Center. To date, we have worked on 11 of the 20 floors, encompassing over 175,000 SF of space within the building, including decommissioning, demolition, and renovations.

In Phase One, JE Dunn completed an 18,000 SF renovation and addition to the building’s existing lobby and storefront. Interior demolition brought the space back to shell condition. JE Dunn built it to a new and improved standard to activate street-level engagement for the approximately 25,000 people who walk by the building daily, installing new curtainwall, a refreshed storefront facing Tryon Street, expanding the ground floor lobby and retail, and reimagining the exterior plaza space.

JE Dunn has already built out multiple spec suites throughout the building. Current and future phases include further build-out of interior suites. In addition, JE Dunn is currently working through preconstruction for the Monarch Food Hall, which will house 12 food hall stations for multiple food and beverage offerings within One Independence Center.
