The Northland Workforce Development Center is a new 145,000-square-foot, two-story facility in North Kansas City designed to prepare students and adult learners for high-demand careers across the Kansas City region. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Aug. 27, 2025, marking the start of construction on this training hub, with completion anticipated in spring of 2027.
Backed by regional partners and the Platte County R-3 School District, the center will nearly double the number of career training pathways currently offered through Northland Career Center, expanding access to hands-on education that directly responds to workforce needs.
First Floor – Skilled Trades
The first floor is dedicated to hands-on skilled trades training, with flexible lab and shop spaces to support programs in construction, manufacturing, electrical work, and related technical fields. These environments are designed to mirror real-world job sites, helping learners build practical skills and industry certifications that translate directly to in-demand roles.
Second Floor – Health & Human Services
The second floor focuses on health and human services programs, including nursing, medical assisting, social services, and other community-focused careers. Purpose-built simulation labs, classrooms, and collaboration spaces will strengthen the pipeline of healthcare and social service professionals as regional demand continues to grow.
