John Hoodjer of JE Dunn Construction Receives National Recognition

Local Omaha Native John Hoodjer, Vice President and Group Manager at JE Dunn Construction has been named an Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top 20 Under 40 award recipient.

Engineering News-Record (ENR) is a highly regarded national media outlet providing engineering and construction news, analysis, commentary, and data in the construction industry. Their Top 20 Under 40 program recognizes the best and brightest rising stars in the construction industry. John was first recognized as an ENR Midwest Top Young Professional. From there, he was entered into a pool of over 500 from across the nation where he was recognized as a Top 20 Under 40 honoree.

Upon graduating from Lincoln Northeast High School, Hoodjer’s ten-year service in the military jumpstarted his leadership journey and armed him with the tools to train and coach others. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, where he began his career as an intern at JE Dunn Construction.

During his first nine years at JE Dunn, Hoodjer has served in project management, field supervisory, scheduling, and quality control roles, as well as expanded his knowledge in safety, lean, and MEP. He has worked across many verticals, totaling 41 projects for some of Nebraska’s largest clients and most impactful construction work. In addition, Hoodjer earned his MBA from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2018. Upon graduation, he joined JE Dunn’s Mission Critical group and was promoted to Vice President nearly three years ago. Today, he serves as the regional lead for one of JE Dunn’s largest clients.

“In all my years at JE Dunn, I don’t think I’ve seen someone stand out quite like John Hoodjer does,” says Paul Neidlein, JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group President. “When he succeeds, he pulls everyone around to the top with him. His ambition, consistency, and desire to learn are at a level most of us will never touch. Hoodjer is always the first to volunteer to pilot any procedure or technology JE Dunn is assessing. His leadership mentality spurs him to play a key role in moving the company forward. Every day, he shows his commitment to our company, his market sector, and the industry in general. JE Dunn is beyond lucky to have Hoodjer on our team.”

The ceremony to honor all recipients will be held March 18-20 at the ENR Emerging Leaders Forum in Chicago, IL.
