SIU Arena Renovation

As part of a master plan for the campus athletics department, JE Dunn worked with Southern Illinois University on an expansion and renovation to its arena, bringing the seating capacity to 11,000. The project includes new and enhanced concessions that increase points-of-sale, reducing congestion; new and enhanced men’s/women’s restrooms with increased toilet counts; enhanced public concourses; enhanced public, grand entry; new, reconfigured seating within all price points; enhanced accessible seating areas; and new sound system.

The exterior of the arena was renovated to incorporate up-to date, campus-specific materials to enhance both the game day and non-game day experience. The athletic facilities master plan also includes a new football stadium; a new, 43,000-square-foot athletic training building, which house both men’s/women’s basketball and football operations and new training, meeting rooms and equipment areas. A renovation of Lingle Hall, the existing Saluki athletics administration, includes upgrade of the mechanical systems and a reconfiguration of space. The new athletic building creates a ‘front door’ to the arena, through a two-story lobby serving both the arena and athletic offices. The lobby is a gathering space served by ticketing and a team store.
