JE Dunn was the design-builder for this award winning patrol station in Kansas City, Missouri. The two-story, 23,234-square-foot station was constructed of structural steel with a brick and glass exterior. Building features include administrative and support areas, a processing area with three holding cells and a state of the art fitness facility. The building also included an attached sallyport for vehicular access allowing secure prisoner transfers.
Special consideration was also given to future growth and technological advances. Large quantities of additional conduit was installed in the quarter mile trench connecting the Patrol Station to the central plant in the Police Academy, and modifications were made in both buildings to allow facilities to be pulled to multiple locations. This creative approach ensures maximum interoperability between the two facilities.
