It provides space for police operations, dispatch, training, evidence, records, and a jail. Additionally, it provides office space for the fire department's administrative personnel. Construction consisted of a steel structure with a masonry exterior. In the event of a tropical storm or hurricane, the facility will also serve as the city's emergency operations center.
