The neuro expansion and renovation included a two-floor vertical addition that consisted of 40 patient rooms totaling 35,000 square feet along with an 11th floor penthouse. Additionally, we demoed the existing 4th floor patient rooms to accommodate 18 new ICU beds totaling 12,548 square feet, as well as the demolition of an old carpenter shop to construct a new 3,000 square foot generator and switchgear room.
JE Dunn was also tasked with the infill of two floors below the Critical Care Unit (CCU) of the facility totaling 21,000 square feet of core and shell office space. The area was infilled in what is now the old valet parking lot. To the west of the infill area was the current loading dock, and on the east, the main exit from the front door of the hospital. In order to keep the entrance and other components of the facility in service, we constructed a temporary road to route traffic through the north half of the CCU while also rerouting and tying in the facilities’ City ditch to the perimeter of the building. All construction activities were strategically scheduled around Colorado’s water season and our other site activities to avoid delay to the job.
