A 750-space parking garage is attached to JE Dunn’s corporate headquarters to service both employees and the public. The $18.3 million garage is owned by the City of Kansas City and was financed through a tax increment financing plan. JE Dunn built the garage and now leases 550 spaces for its employees and visitors, while 230 spaces are available to the public. The 6-story garage consists of two levels of parking above ground and four levels below. The garage utilizes precast concrete with poured slabs between each floor. Architectural metals add variation to the concrete walls, as well as the public art piece installed above the garage entrance. The City’s “One Percent for Art Program” sets aside for the inclusion of unique artwork. California artist, Gordon Huether created an abstract mural for the garage entitled “Red Eye” which references moving tail lights.
