The JE Dunn team has completed a 27,000 square foot renovation of the MacMillan Community and Education Center at the Tenth Avenue Facility of Abbott Northwestern Hospital for Allina Health. The scope included construction of a 13,000 square foot conference center, a 2,000 square foot executive board room, and 11,000 square foot simulation lab space.
The conference center includes 500 seats with two operable partitions to create smaller spaces, lobby and waiting areas with server room for catered refreshments. The executive board room consists of a 24-seat boardroom table, premium finishes, a videoboard wall, and an audio/visual control center.
The simulation lab comprises state-of-the-art training spaces for nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals. The space includes six suites with a computer lab and high-fidelity manikins that can be programmed to present all manner of illnesses and scenarios, from obstetrics to critical care. The simulation areas also included separate break areas, storage rooms, and a 3D printing lab. Following the completion of the simulation spaces, the team built debrief rooms.
