Let's Talk

Olathe-based KVC Health Systems Inc., a nonprofit juvenile psychiatric health provider, is ready to move ahead with plans to turn a long-vacant Wichita building into a new, children's psychiatric health facility.

According to a city building permit pulled last week by JE Dunn Construction Group Inc., a renovation of the approximately 30,000-square-foot building is expected to cost just over $7 million.

The old Kansas Orthopedic Center building at 1507 W. 21st St. North in Wichita, which has been vacant for more than 15 years, was sold to KVC from an entity called DBB Holdings Inc. last year. KVC officials have said the new hospital will serve minors between the ages of 6 and 16 and will be staffed around the clock.
