Like all of you, JE Dunn continues to face new challenges as the spread of the COVID-19 advances. Many of the communities in which we work are taking measures to slow the spread of the virus and protect individuals, including issuing orders for people in the community to stay at home except for those that are supporting an essential business. In almost every case, construction has been deemed an essential business.
Today, all of JE Dunn’s projects are operating and work continues to be put in place unless suspended by our client or government order. Very few of our projects have been suspended because of such orders.
To protect JE Dunn’s and our project teams’ employees, we have made and will continue to make changes to our work practices based upon guidance from our federal, state and local governments. These changes include:
· If someone feels ill, or if they are not comfortable coming to work, they should stay home
· Updated site work plans requiring social distancing
· Guests or visitors are not allowed to our jobsites or offices
· Meetings are discouraged, but if necessary, must have fewer than 10 people
· Air travel is discouraged and must be approved by a manager
· Everyone is reminded to wash their hands and avoid touching their face
Additionally, on many projects, we are screening employees of symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entering our project sites, including temperature testing. We will continue to apply this to more of our projects as equipment and resources become available.
I’m proud that our industry is working together as we collaborate and share best practices and ideas. When it comes to keeping people safe, there is no competition. Information JE Dunn has developed is being shared and utilized by others in our industry.
We are experiencing some interruptions to the supply chain and the availability of labor. As I stated previously, we anticipate potential disruption to projects due to these issues. We will work with you to mitigate those disruptions to the extent possible.
I am sure many of you are experiencing different challenges within your organizations. Please let us know if we can help you in any way. I would also ask that we all continue to provide assistance to our community healthcare providers. They are on the front lines of this crisis. Thank you to our trade partners who have and continue to assist us in supporting them.
At JE Dunn, we exist to enrich lives through inspired people and places. Despite the enormous challenges we are all facing, I am so grateful for the truly inspiring people on our collective teams and in our communities that are getting us through this difficult time through support and caring.
