Construction is underway on the next two phases of Cerner Corp.'s sprawling $4.5 billion campus in south Kansas City.

The 777,000-square-foot addition will nearly double the amount of office space on the Innovations Campus, creating room for about 3,000 more employees. Work on office towers three and four began in March, according to MMC Contractors, and construction is expected to be completed by spring 2020.

"Construction is full speed ahead on the next two towers at the Innovations Campus," Curtis Golba, a vice president with Kansas City-based JE Dunn Construction and the project executive, wrote in an email to the Business Journal.
