Chief Strategy and Client Experience Officer

Rodd Merchant

As Chief Strategy and Client Experience Officer, Rodd oversees and works with internal and operations leadership teams to achieve strategic market growth through full integration of the firm’s strategy, client solutions, marketing and branding capabilities. Previously, he led JE Dunn's Advanced Manufacturing Group as Senior Vice President with a specific focus on the semiconductor industry. Prior to that, he served as head of JE Dunn’s Integrated Project Service group and oversaw safety, quality, VDC/BIM, engineering services, scheduling, lean construction and integrated practice. He recently served as project executive and design-build manager for the $135 million Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado.

Since joining JE Dunn in 2006 he has championed the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and collaborative technology within JE Dunn and remains focused on leveraging the power of BIM, technology and integrated processes to eliminate waste and rework and improve the design and construction process. Prior to joining JE Dunn, he spent 12 years as a consulting structural engineer where he managed design and construction of a wide array of commercial building projects. He currently serves on the leadership team of the AGC BIMForum and is a 2009 recipient of Colorado Construction Magazine’s Top 20 under 40 award.

Rodd received his BS in Architectural Engineering and MS in Civil Engineering (structures) from the University of Wyoming. He is a registered structural engineer in Colorado and Wyoming as well as a LEED Accredited Professional. Rodd served as past president of the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado (SEAC) and is a frequent speaker on the subjects of VDC, technology, and process transformation through integrated practice.
